Communities First

South West Rhyl Communities First is a Welsh Assembly Government funded initiative, aimed at tackling poverty and improve community involvement in the area.

The initiative is for local people in our instance residents of South West Rhyl. The community here plays a major part in identifying the needs of their area and with support from the Communities First team will work to bring about changes they want to see take place.

The Communities First programme target taster sessions, training, activities, projects and funds towards local needs, which have been identified by the local Partnership Board. The Partnership represents different groups in the community; consult with the community about all the issues, problems and opportunities in the area alongside the team. A Community Action Plan is then put into place of work to make improvements locally, which the team will undertake within the community, this plan is also used to apply for funding and to join up local services.
