Communities First is a Welsh Assembly Government regeneration programme targeted on the most deprived communities in Wales. The Trust Fund is funded by The Welsh Assembly Government and administered by WCVA.
The purpose of the scheme is to support any type of activity that involves local people, through small community organisations, that benefits their community. The activities must provide some measure of economic, environmental, social or cultural benefit for people living in a Communities First area.
The Fund is described as “red tape busting” and is intended to provide easy to access resources for local groups.
There is no minimum amount but £5,000 is the maximum you can apply for. The activities must provide some measure of economic, environmental, social or cultural benefit for people living in a Communities First area - electoral ward, sub-ward, lower super output area or ‘community of interest’.
Applications to the scheme can be submitted from 1 April 2008.
