LOCAL GROUPS
South West Rhyl Communities First work closely with a number of local community groups, some of which were already set up prior to the programme coming into the ward, and many that Communities First set up and brought to the area with the support of local residents and partner organisations.
Marsh Community Association: Based at the Neighbourhood Centre on Rhydwen Drive open 10am-2pm Tues to Fri. Computer Suite with free internet access upstairs. Food Co-op order on a Wed pick up on a Fri. Other courses and activities run by the group at the centre and locally. Call 01745 362459
Vale Resident Association: Vale Resident Association is currently without a base, but serves residents from in and around the following areas, Kingsley Avenue, Walford & Aled Avenue, Mes Cefdny, Menai Ave, Victoria Rd and surrounding streets, Ernest Street and surrounding streets off Marsh RD if you require support, please call 01745 332528, we will pass on your details
Buxton Court Residents Association: Cover the residents of Buxton Court. Provide advice and support to local residents.
Rhyl South West Central Residents Association: Based at the Botanical Gardens Café open Mon to Fri 2-4pm and 10.30-4pm on weekends. If you want to book the café for afternoon teas, parties etc please contact 01745 343034
Marsh Youth Group: Run by local young people aged between 11 -16 years. Young people activioties will start soon on a thurs day evening, learn to fence, circus skills try your hand at aerobics, nail and hair sessions for girls, nintendo wii games nights and much much more. Parent Baby & Toddler Group: Group run by local parents, meet every Fri at 82 Marsh Rd 9.30-11.00- open all school holidays (Except Xmas). Free healthy breakfast provided to children, free refreshments for parents, arts and crafts sessions, meet other mums in your area, friendly group. School holiday activities planned.
South West Rhyl Over 50s Group: A group for older people meets every Tues at Rhyl Rugby Club from 11 till 3pm.
Kids Fun Club - meet every Saturday at John Davies Community Facility, 10 - 4pm. a club for young people with specific needs , come and join us on regular trips out. or join in 123 MONKEY!!! we enjoy arts and crafts, music, meeting new friends. South West Rhyl Communities First can support local groups in a number of ways:
- Pilot the sessions to see what the interest is like
- Help with drawing up a constitution, opening a bank account and organising a committee
- Help to access funding for specific activities, events, projects etc
- Support to access training to develop the group/initiative
- Provide a helping hand on any issues that may arise
